During a biomechanical assessment we examine the way your lower limbs function while you stand, walk, and run, checking for abnormalities and possible causes of pain in the foot, ankle, knee and back.
Through use of a pressure plated treadmill and video cameras situated around the treadmill, we accurately record your stance then walking and running gait. The video data enables us to closely analyse your every movement during the gait cycle and then provide you with clear visual information and explanations on what is desirable and undesirable about your gait pattern, and what is contributing to or caused your pain or problem.
Following the biomechanical assessment, we will develop a treatment plan to improve your symptoms. This may involve one or more of the following:
- Footwear advice
- Exercises or stretches
- Taping / Strapping
- Foot Orthoses or other devices for you to wear inside your shoe to control, realign or cushion abnormalities
- Referral to other health professionals for specialist assessment and treatment
- Referral for X-ray, Ultrasound or MRI
